Historic Hillsborough, a Yankee heartland of red barns, white clapboard churches, rich history and beautiful scenery. Hillsborough is located in the Monadnock Region of Southwestern New Hampshire. This may be New Hampshire's quiet corner, but there is always plenty to do.
Join us in the Spring when the sap is running and watch maple syrup being made. Go kayaking on the Contoocook River. Summer activities abound in the Hillsborough area. Swim in one of our many clear lakes, ride a hot air balloon during our annual Balloonfest in July or visit all five of our National Historic Civil Engineering Landmarks, the stone arch bridges.
Fall foliage season brings brilliant colors and fall festivals to the area. Enjoy the best German food outside of Germany at our annual Schnitzelfest in September or shop for unique arts and crafts during one of the local artisans' fairs. Go hiking in Fox State Forest or bike some of the many miles of our designated scenic roads.
Winter doesn't just bring snow and cold weather, it brings lots of activities to keep you warm. Enjoy nearby alpine skiing, go XC skiing in Pillsbury State Park, try your patience at ice fishing or search for that perfect holiday gift in our quaint and charming shops.
